The band consists of Ulf Lundblad and Fredrik Djurfeldt who both have been collaborating in different constellations before getting together to create instans in the fall of 2004. The duo met in Göteborg, Sweden, in the year 2000 and started the harsh EBM act Severe Illusion. They are still working under that moniker and has until today released two albums, as well as an CDM and a split vinyl lp together with electro terrorists The Pain Machinery. After finishing recording the second album for Severe Illusion, the members felt they needed to rinse their brains from the messy beats and broken down melodies that had surrounded them for so long. Instans was born. Totally danceable and with strong, minimalistic melodies the music of the new band was still well within the borders of the modern electronic music, but yet marked a new direction in the artists progress. Combining the forces of haunting rhythmic and distorted vocals instans sets a new standard for hard electronics.
